Melanocyte transplantation is done when the disease becomes stable and no longer spreads . For patients with large areas of vitiligo , a small bit of skin (donor area) is taken from the gluteal region/ thighs/arms and the graft is processed in the laboratory with special solutions for melanocyte separation. The cell suspension is prepared meticulously and transplanted into the dermabraded skin (recipient site). You will be instructed to follow the post op drugs and follow up after 48hrs and 7days. There are several modifications of techniques like:

• Autologous melanocyte keratinocyte cell suspension technique
• Follicular melanocyte transplantation
